Descrição
Vitamin D has long been known to play an important role in calcium absorption, significantly improving bone health. However, new evidence suggests that vitamin K2 directs calcium absorption into the skeleton, preventing it from being deposited in inappropriate locations, such as joints (arthrosis), arteries (atherosclerosis), and organs (gallstones, kidney stones, cataracts, etc.).
Vitamin K2 activates a protein called osteocalcin, produced by osteoblasts, which in turn is necessary for the assimilation of calcium into the bone matrix. Osteocalcin also prevents calcium from depositing in the arteries. The importance of vitamin K2 for our bodies is clear, as without it, the action of vitamin D could cause calcium to deposit in the arteries instead of penetrating the bones. -
