Indicações

  • Descrição

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a highly absorbable form of the amino acid L-Cysteine. From a chemical perspective, NAC is the result of combining the free-form amino acid L-Cysteine with an acetyl group. The resulting amino acid compound is used by the body to produce glutathione.

In the body, it converts into the powerful antioxidant glutathione, which helps reduce reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress. It protects against toxic elements such as environmental radiation and the toxic effects of alcohol and tobacco. Increased glutathione activity also protects against liver damage caused by paracetamol, restoring antioxidant balance and accelerating recovery.

NAC is also considered a powerful antimucolytic, which is why it has been used as a component of medications. It acts by decreasing the viscosity and increasing the fluidity of mucus, promoting expectoration, and protecting the respiratory system. This ability facilitates recovery from bronchitis and emphysema. It helps protect immune cells and fights certain bacteria.

It increases glutathione levels in virus-infected cells, inhibiting viral replication and proliferation. Furthermore, it also mitigates the side effects of chemotherapy drugs. NAC consumption has been shown to reduce the risk of some types of cancer, heart problems, and infections.

NAC further reduces muscle fatigue due to its antioxidant power and its ability to create a cellular environment conducive to muscle contraction. It also reduces muscle inflammation and speeds recovery after intense exercise.

It plays an important role in brain antioxidant protection and is one of the most important nutrients in preventing aging-related degenerative brain diseases.
