Descrição
Quercetin is the most abundant bioflavonoid, found in numerous foods, including apples, onions, tea, berries, and kale.
Research on this substance has revealed that it has significant anti-inflammatory activity. Its action appears to be related to inhibiting the initial processes of inflammation: the release of histamine and pro-inflammatory mediators. It is also a strong inhibitor of the enzyme responsible for converting glucose into sorbitol, a process that leads to diabetes complications (cataracts, retinopathies, and neuropathies).
Within the flavonoid group, quercetin has demonstrated the greatest antiviral power. Research on quercetin has shown that it naturally helps relieve pain and stiffness while strengthening connective tissue and, unlike many medications for this purpose, does not cause damage to the gastrointestinal wall. Regarding allergic responses, quercetin's inhibition of histamine release has been shown to prevent leukotriene synthesis and reduce the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. In viral infections, it interferes with enzymes that break down the virus's protein coat. Once this coat is removed, the virus is able to replicate and infect host cells. Through this action, quercetin has been shown to slow the growth of the herpes virus.
As a bioflavonoid, quercetin also plays an important role in supporting collagen structures and preventing their destruction.
To complement the action of quercetin, this supplement contains vitamin C and bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme extracted from pineapple, with anti-inflammatory properties.
Vitamin C is in a patented form (Este-C®), which does not cause gastric irritation because it is non-acidic (neutral pH). It has the added benefit of containing the natural metabolites of vitamin C in a complex of acerola cherry, citrus bioflavonoids, rutin, and rosehips, making it more easily utilized by the body. This complex is called Ester-C.
Solgar Quercetin Complex is exclusively formulated by Solgar and provides the important bioflavonoid quercetin in a synergistic formula with Ester-C® and bromelain. -
