Descrição
Resveratrol is a polyphenol that can be found mainly in grape seeds, black grape skins and red wine.
Studies suggest that resveratrol may help lower levels of low-density lipoproteins, also known as LDL cholesterol, and increase levels of high-density lipoproteins, or HDL cholesterol. (LDL, particularly in its oxidized state, can accumulate in blood vessel walls, leading to the formation of atheromatous plaques. These plaques lead to atherosclerosis, which causes blood vessel blockages.)
Resveratrol promotes the liver's production of HDL and reduces LDL production, and also prevents the oxidation of circulating LDL. It is therefore important in reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction. -
